PCC Grants

Local MP, Dame Caroline Dinenage has welcomed the announcement that organisations which support Gosport constituents set to collectively receive £641,759 in grants from Hampshire and Isle of Wight’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Donna Jones over the next three years.

Local groups will be given a total of £162,886 for 2022/23, £238,823 for 2023/24, and £240,050 for 2024/25. This funding will allow them to provide a range of support for local individuals, families and whole communities.

Commenting Caroline said:

“Fantastic news that local organisations are receiving this much needed financial support. Huge thanks to Donna, the PCC for recognising the many groups  working hard across the Gosport constituency and wider region to improve our communities.”

Projects that are set to receive funding include:

  • Southern Domestic Abuse Service t/a Stop Domestic Abuse - This project will work with affected diaspora communities to prevent incidents, support victims/survivors and increase professionals' knowledge of FGM and HCP throughout Hampshire (excluding Southampton). It will particularly focus on communities with high BAMER populations, including Portsmouth, Basingstoke and Rushmoor. A further project will aim to provide one-to-one support for children and young people who are using abusive and/or violent behaviours towards their parent(s) plus small group work for parents affected by APA and preventative work with young people.
  • One Small Thing – Provision of education and training designed to improve and develop women's skills and abilities and help them gain qualifications to increase their chances of finding and sustaining meaningful occupation that supports them to live free from offending.
  • Victim Support - Provision of counselling support for victims of crime and ASB where practical and emotional type support is not sufficient for them to cope with and/or recover from the effects of the crime/incidents.
  • Vivid Housing Limited – Funding will contribute to the ongoing development of the organisation's approach to DA:
    • Embedding trauma-informed practice across the organisation
    • Centering the voices of victims & survivors in policy and practice
    • Introducing the use of reflective practice as a tool for staff development  "
  • Spurgeons - Spurgeons' Invisible Walls project at Winchester HMP will use funding towards the cost of a Family Intervention Coordinator to support fathers and families during custody, in preparation for release, and work with agencies to develop more effective post-release support.
