Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage will host a 'Dementia Friends' event in her constituency offices tomorrow.
The event will see the MP and local Councillors sign up to become 'Dementia Friends' as part of a nationwide initiative led by The Alzheimer's Society. The campaign aims to ensure that people living with dementia feel included in their community and gives people an understanding of dementia and the small things they can do to make a difference.
Speaking in advance of the event, Caroline said:
"I am delighted to be pledging my support to people with dementia who are living within our community. It is really important that those living with the condition do not feel isolated so I am looking forward to learning how we can make this a reality in the Gosport area."
More than 1 in 3 people with dementia live within the community and so the Dementia Friends initiative is extremely important. There are now already well over half a million Dementia Friends in the UK.
