Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, is promoting local businesses on her webpage and social media who are offering special delivery services to those staying at home during the Covid-19 outbreak.
In March, the Government ensured that restaurants and pubs would be allowed to supply takeaways and deliveries without having to change their licences. This was aimed to not only ensure that they could continue to run while they remained closed to the general public, but also support those who are staying at home and self-isolating during social distancing measures.
Caroline has created a dedicated page on her website of support that individuals can access at home and has encouraged businesses to contact her with what special services they are supplying. In addition she has been promoting three businesses a day on her social media with their details to encourage residents across Gosport, Stubbington, Hill Head and Lee-on-the-Solent to support their local pubs, cafes and restaurants.
She commented:
“It’s really tough for those who are isolated at home and it’s fantastic how so many of our local eateries and pubs, which are closed to the public, are offering new services to support them. It’s a win:win situation, good for local residents and good for business, while we are all doing our bit to stop the spread of coronavirus.
“Before I started gathering this info I had no idea of the wide range of pubs and restaurants, even a brewery, offering new and exciting delivery services. I’m keen to share this as widely as possible, so if you are a local business that would like to be included, please get in touch!”
