Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, has today marked Children’s Mental Health Week 2020 and Time to Talk Day 2020, with a video encouraging discussion on mental health.
Children’s Mental Health Week is organised by the charity Place2Be and is taking place 3-9 February 2020. This year’s theme encourages young people to ‘Find your Brave’.
Today (6 February 2020) is also Time to Talk Day, organised by the social movement Time to Change – which works to change how we think and act about mental health.
Along with sharing resources designed to encourage discussion, Caroline said:
‘It is so important that we change perceptions and encourage more discussion around mental health. One in four of us at stage during our lives will experience some form of mental health issues, so it really can affect anybody at any time.
Yet there still does seem to be a certain amount of stigma around people feeling that they can open up and share their worries and their concerns.’
