Gosport MP, Caroline Dinenage, will be celebrating Volunteers Week with a campaign that celebrates local volunteers and voluntary organisations.
Volunteers Week 2021 will run from 1st-7th June.
Caroline’s campaign has been well received by local voluntary organisations. Each day next week, a local volunteer will use Caroline’s social media as a platform to discuss the work they do as a volunteer, why they enjoy volunteering and how people can get involved with their organisation.
Commenting, Caroline said:
“Volunteers deserve the recognition for their work throughout the year, but especially as more and more people are giving up their time for others during the pandemic.
“Speaking to residents, local organisations and charity groups I have been overwhelmed by the community response to this crisis. It has been incredibly heart-warming to see how people have been supporting each other.
“It is so important to recognise the work volunteers do and give them a massive thanks to for all their hard work!”
Ted Hill, Chief Executive of Gosport Voluntary Action said:
“Volunteers Week highlights the varied & fantastic work of volunteers and in Gosport. We have hundreds of committed and enthusiastic volunteers who freely give up their time - I applaud them all.
“We have seen many more people come forward over the last year or so to help out during the unprecedented times of Covid & lockdown demonstrating the Gosport community spirit. If anyone would like to volunteer their time GVA can put you in touch with organisations needing a helping hand."
