Caroline Dinenage MP has added her support to a global awareness campaign and is encouraging constituents to help make the internet a better place this Safer Internet Day.
As part of Safer Internet Day, Caroline is hosting a Cyber Safety event to help parents be more confident about keeping their children safe online. The free event takes place at Brune Park in Gosport from 6.30- 7.30pm on Thursday 7 February.
On Tuesday 5th February 2019, millions across the UK and globally will be celebrating Safer Internet Day and Caroline has pledged support along with hundreds of schools, parliamentarians and organisations across the UK.
This Safer Internet Day encourages everyone to think about the ways in which they ask, give and receive consent online, using the hashtag #OurInternetOurChoice and Caroline is calling on constituents to get involved by:
- Helping your family and friends to have a positive time online by giving them the information they need to stay safe. See advice at www.saferinternet.org.uk
- Promoting positive messages online, whether this is by backing a cause, helping a friend, reporting abuse or by showing support for your local club!
- Making the internet a better place this Safer Internet Day by taking positive action online. From liking your friend’s content to sharing kind messages, post online using #SaferInternetDay2019 and #OurInternetOurChoice.
- Encouraging everyone to think about the different ways in which they ask, give and receive consent online using the hashtag #OurInternetOurChoice.
Commenting Caroline said:
“The online world is a fantastic place for young people to learn, create and express themselves, however we know there is lots of danger our there too, which is why we must ensure that they use it safely. My Cyber Safety Event will give parents and guardians the opportunity to learn how to protect their children online with some great guidance and advice.”
