Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, looking for the best South Asian Restaurant in the Gosport Constituency to nominate for the 2022 Tiffin Cup
The Gosport Constituency have had success in this competition previously with The New Bengal, which is located on Stoke Road in Gosport, being awarded Highly Commended in the Tiffin Cup 2019.
The Tiffin Cup celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. Established in 2007 it seeks to promote the importance of South Asian restaurants throughout the UK. There are at present 9,000 restaurants and takeaways and they contribute over £2 billion to the British economy. They are also a focal point for local communities providing good food, camaraderie and innovation.
Each year the competition has attracted over 100 nominees from MPs and Peers. Following local nomination there is a Regional Final from which 12 Finalists are chosen. At the final each restaurant will be asked to prepare a signature dish which will be marked by a panel of expert Judges which is chaired by the Celebratory Chef Ainsley Harriott MBE. The winner is crowned Tiffin Cup winner for the year.
The Regional Final stage will be completed by 27th January 2022. The Grand Final with the live judging will take place in March 2022. The competition is not only aimed at bringing awareness to Britain’s fantastic South Asian food but also raises money for the international World Vision charity for vulnerable children.
“I’m keen to hear from residents across Gosport, Lee on the Solent, Stubbington and Hill Head who their favourite South Asian Restaurant is!
This competition highlights the importance of our local restaurants, and it would be great to see a local business recognised again.”
Gosport constituents can nominate their favourite restaurant at https://www.caroline4gosport.co.uk/tc22 before 22nd November
